2-BAND Pattern 1856 “SERGEANTS” RIFLE
Here we present an antique British Tower Enfield Pattern 1856 Short Rifle made in 1857 in Birmingham, England.
The flat, flush-mounted lock plate is stamped with the British Crown over “VR” (for Victoria Regina or Queen Victoria) behind the hammer and “1857/TOWER” in front of it. Popularly known as the “Sergeants Rifle”, the Pattern 56 was adopted by the British Army in 1856.
The overall condition is good. Gray patina throughout. The action is excellent. The bore has been smooth bored and is patinated and in decent condition. The stock is solid and smooth with both use and storage evidence.
