Here we present an antique American Artillery Officer’s Saber, made circa the early-19th Century. This type of sword was popularized during the American Revolutionary War and was one of the signature weapons of the young United States through the War of 1812 and well beyond.
This beautiful sword has a blade with gold accented wire etching on a niter blue field, along with artillery motifs. The overall length of this sword is 34 inches and the blade measures 29-5/8 inches.
The overall condition is good. The blade is straight with clear etching and original fire blue and gold finishes. Solid hilt. Leather and wire wrap mostly intact. The iron hilt and scabbard are dark with age.
