BEAUTIFUL 19th Ct EUROPEAN Antique Percussion BELT Pistol ENGRAVED HARDWARE
With Ribbed Twist Pattern Barrel & Silver Inlaid Stock
Here we present an antique European Belt Pistol, made circa the 1820s. The style of this pistol makes us lean towards French origin. There is a faint but incomplete maker’s mark on the front of the lock. This pistol features a nearly 7” barrel that has a cannon-style muzzle with a ribbed octagonal barrel behind with a distinct twist pattern. The trigger guard, pommel cap, and side plate are neatly engraved. Ramrod is tipped in horn. This was once a flintlock and it was updated to percussion in the mid-19th Century.
The overall condition is fine. Original twist pattern distinct on the barrel. The action is excellent. The bore is dim with small groove rifling. The stock shows some use and maintains its delicate original silver wire inlays throughout. Nicely engraved hardware. A faint maker’s mark can be seen on the front of the lock.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 6-7/8 inches.
Caliber: .48 Percussion
Overall condition as seen in photos.
