US PATRIOTIC THEMED ETCHED BLADE EAGLE Pommel Sword EARLY-19th CENTURY
Mother of Pearl Grip, Gold Finish
Here we present an antique American Eagle Military Officer’s Sword, made circa the early to mid-1800s. The “Eagle Head” sword was popularized during the American Revolutionary War and was one of the signature weapons of the young United States through the War of 1812 and into the 1830s.
This sword features the E Pluribus Unum motto of the United States of America as well as military panoply, federal eagle and oak leaves and acorns. The hand guard is beautifully cast. Mother of Pearl grips.
The overall condition is near fine. Straight blade with clear etching and mostly bright. Solid hilt with an eagle head pommel and full federal eagle on the cast guard. Mother of pearl grip, mostly intact. Both hilt and scabbard have much of the original finish.
