TRENTON, NJ c1850s H. PARKER & CO. .36 FRONTIER Pioneer Long Rifle Antique
Engraved German Silver Patchbox & Single Set Trigger!
Here we present an antique H. Parker Long Rifle, made circa the mid-19th Century in Trenton, New Jersey. This half-stock rifle has an octagonal barrel in .36 caliber with the maker’s mark “H. PARKER & CO. TRENTON NJ” on top. Henry Parker, who worked out of Trenton primarily as a lockmaker, passed in 1860. Most of the hardware is finely engraved German silver, including the patchbox, which is large and impressive. The trigger is single set rather than the customary double set on rifles of this type and period. This would have been a handsome and well-made rifle for the farm, field, or hunting woods.
The overall condition is good. Original patina. The action is excellent. The bore is in good condition, patinated with good rifling. The stock is solid. This is a handsome rifle with all that German silver!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 34-3/4 inches.
