Product Description

Rare DWM BULGARIAN CONTRACT Model 1908 9x19mm LUGER PISTOL C&R Parabellum

WORLD WAR I & II Military Pistol with HOLSTER

Here we present a C&R DWM Bulgarian Contract Model 1908 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol manufactured circa 1908-1910 by DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) in Berlin, Germany. This is a scarce example of approximately 10,000 Luger pistols ordered by Bulgaria in the 1908 to 1910 timeframe. These are an extremely difficult variant of the Luger pistol to obtain in any condition as they saw heavy use in both World War I and World War II with most having been rebuilt at least once by the DWM factory and then again by the Russians after World War II when several thousand were captured on the Eastern Front.

The chamber area is roll marked with the DWM scroll monogram with the Bulgarian Crest on top of the front toggle. This crest consists of the Bulgarian Crown over a shield with a Bulgarian Rampant Lion inside. The barrel extension is stamped with a single “Bulgarian Rampant Lion” acceptance/proof mark. The lower safety lever area of the frame is marked in Cyrillic lettering “LOADED” and “FIRE”. The extractor marking likewise is in Cyrillic.

This one has been through the wars. Wear and weathering apparent. The receiver, frame, and toggle are all Bulgarian, but from different guns. The numbers on the frame, takedown lever, and trigger match (sideplate number is not visible but wear appears to match the reset well); receiver and sear numbers match each other; toggle parts match each other. Action is excellent. The bore is dull gray and nearly devoid of rifling, so much has this pistol been shot and cleaned. The grips are very worn though still solid. No import marking. The leather holster is also quite worn. Overall a good example of a rare Luger variant seeking a well-deserved retirement.

This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.

Barrel is 4 inches.

Caliber: 9x19mm Parabellum (Luger)

Overall condition as seen in photos.
