Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Engraved Brass Cannon Barrel Percussion Pistol. This handgun was possibly made in Japan or Europe for the Asian market in the mid-19th century. This type of pistol was very popular from the 18th and into the mid-19th Centuries in the United States, as well as Europe that features a cannon barrel that would have been worn on the belt or holstered as it was possibly carried into battle after being privately purchased. This is a neat old pistol and one can easily imagine the sight of its bore would certainly be a deterrent to would be scoundrels. The overall condition is good. Dark brass patina. The bore has darkened with verdigris throughout. Stang action. Light engraved. The grips sis solid and in good shape. Most of the wire inlays are absent. A adhesive like substance is present at the base of the nipple.
