Product Description

Engraved, Carved PHEASANT Stock FRANCOTTE Sidelock 20 Gauge SxS Shotgun

Gorgeous Double Barrel 20 Gauge Shotgun!

Here we present a Beautifully Engraved August Francotte Sidelock 20 Gauge Shotgun with a Carved Stock, manufactured in Liege, Belgium. Auguste Francotte is one of the oldest of the world’s few fine gunmakers with its founding date of 1805 pre-dating both James Purdey and Holland & Holland. The orgins of the Francotte guns are closely linked with the Armory of Liege. After having manufactured numerous military gun, Auguste Francotte turned towards the making of high-quality sporting guns. Francotte’s sidelock action is known for its strength, speed, and reliability.

An interesting thing to note is that there are no specific “Francotte” models as such. Each gun is specifically designed and created with precision and artistry that are specific to an individual customer’s wishes. This is the reason you will never see a “model by model” price list. Options and embellishments are only limited by one’s imagination when purchasing Francotte shotguns.

This one features beautiful, intricate scroll engraving on the frame. The one features an extractor and sliding tang safety. This shotgun has been fitted with the Miller single trigger, which was invented in the 1920s, and is perhaps the best single trigger conversion ever devised. The barrels were re-blued at some point and the stock has been carved on the right side with a flying pheasant. This is a beautiful piece in fantastic condition that will continue to grace the fields for a long time to come.

The overall condition is fine. The action is strong and tight. The bores are smooth and mirror-bright. Fine stock. The frame showcases sharp and well-defined floral engravings.
