ENGRAVED Antique G.H. HERBERT Saw Handle SILVER TRIMMED Percussion Pistol
Mid-1800s TARGET PISTOL Made in ALBANY, NEW YORK
Here we present an antique engraved G.H. Herbert Saw Handle Percussion Target Pistol, made circa the 1850s in Albany, New York. This pistol features a slender frame with an ergonomic “saw handle” grip, which places the axis of the bore low in the hand and greatly improves shooting accuracy and stability. The .45 caliber octagonal barrel is 9 inches in length and has quite the heavy barrel. The silver forend cap and the lock are nicely engraved.
The overall condition is good. Original brown patina. The action functions, but the hammer does not seat in the full cock notch with the muzzle pointed up. Good bore for its age. Legible markings. A repair has been made to each side of the forend next to the cap, replacing damaged chips, and both are stable.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 9 inches.
Caliber: .45 Percussion
Overall condition as seen in photos.
