Early-1800 ENGRAVED & CARVED French FLINTLOCK Pocket Pistol Panoply Antique
Short Range SELF DEFENSE Pistol
Here we present an antique French Flintlock Pocket Pistol, made circa the early 19th Century likely in or around Paris, France. This medium bore flintlock pistol was used primarily as a self-defense weapon. Its effective range was short, and they were frequently used as an adjunct to a sword. Pistols in this era were usually smoothbore, although some rifled pistols were produced. They came in a variety of sizes with the smallest being less than 6 inches and the largest ranging to over 20 inches.
The small-sized ones, such as this one, fits in the palm of the hand and were what would have been carried in the busy streets of Paris or London during the tumultuous times of the early 1800’s in Western Europe.
The overall condition is near fine. Original bright finish with a panoply engraved on the top of the barrel. The action is excellent and the bore is smooth and patinated. The carved stock is in great shape and solid.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
