Product Description

DWM BRAZILIAN Contract LUGER M1906 7.65x21mm Pistol C&R HOLSTER/TOOL

CIRCLED “B” on Receiver; CARREGADA on the Extractor

Here we present a C&R German DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) Brazilian Contract Model 1906 Luger Pistol, made in Berlin, Germany. DWM produced approximately 5,000 of these pistols for military sales to Brazil. Most examples exhibit heavy use and wear due to the high humidity in South America. These pistols were serial numbered from to approximately 5000. All of these pistols were produced on the old 1906 style frame with the grip safety, polished lower safety area, and no stock lug. They have a bland chamber area with the “DWM” logo on the rear toggle and the only proofmarks on the entire pistol is a small circled “B” proof on the left side of the barrel extension.

Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical and productive fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with being carried by German troops during both World Wars and is perhaps the most associated with those events.

The overall condition is good. Original finish. The action is excellent. The bore is clean with worn rifling. The grips are solid. The extractor is marked “CARREGADA”. Numbers match with the exception of the magazine. The holster is quite old and has been repaired/modified with a new flap and belt loop. It includes a cleaning rod as well. A nice example of a hard to find Brazilian contract Luger!
