BRACE of .54 Caliber LONDON FLINTLOCK Pistols Antique British
SILVER WIRE INLAYS
Here we present an antique Pair of Flintlock Belt Pistols, made circa the 18th Century. These pistols feature 7 ½” smoothbore barrels in .54 caliber. The profile of these boxlock pistols is similar to the so-called Queen Anne design which were popular from the late-17th Century through the beginning of the 19th. These have some delicate silver wire inlay at the top of the grip and “London” engraved on either side of the frames but are otherwise quite business-like. These have the advantage over other similar pistols of having ramrods and solid holders mounted under the barrels. These do not have visible proofs as we believe the ramrods and holders were installed upon customer request after the making and proofing of these guns, covering the proofs with the rear holder.
The overall condition is good+. Original patinas. The actions are excellent and strong. The bores are smooth and patinated. The grips show use and remain solid.
