AUGSBURG, BAVARIA JOHANN MOND Mid-1800s Pistol .42 Antique
BAVARIAN Self-defense BELT Pistol
Here we present an antique Bavarian Johann Mond Pistol, made circa the mid-1800s, in Augsburg. This pistol would have been made for keeping on one’s person for protection against brigands and predators. Being a single shot pistol, the owner might have kept another or more with him depending on the likelihood of danger on the road or in the city.
This pistol has a 6 ¼” octagonal barrel in .42 caliber. The top flat has the maker’s name “IOH: MOND” inlaid in silver. The steel hardware is engraved. The stock is one piece with a curvaceous grip with generous hand-checkering.
The overall condition is good. Original patina. The action is strong. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock is solid, though there is some old slivering up near the muzzle.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 6-1/4 inches.
Caliber: .42 Percussion
Overall condition as seen in photos.
