CASED & ENGRAVED British BARNES & CO. Double Action PERCUSSION Revolver
Six-Shot SELF DEFENSE Pocket Pistol w/ACCESSORIES
Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Cased and Engraved Barnes & Company Percussion Double Action Revolver, made circa the mid-1800s in London, England. Frederic Barnes & Co. was eventually formed at 109 Fenchurch Street, near Tower Hill, and listed as a gun, rifle, and pistol manufacturer. This pistol features a .45 caliber bore that would have been worn on the belt or tucked into a coat pocket. This is a neat old pistol, and one can easily imagine the sight of its bore would certainly be a deterrent to would be scoundrels.
This example has floral scroll pattern engraving on the frame. It includes a partitioned hardwood case with green felt interior, with hardwood handled screwdriver, nipple wrench, and cleaning rod, along with a brass powder flask, cap tin, and metal oiler.
The overall condition is good. Original gray patina. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age with serviceable rifling. Lightly engraved frame. Both grips are nicely checkered and in very good shape. Absent wedge screw, front sight, and loading lever. The case is very good with absent lid plaque and some cracking.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
