WWII German Army ALCOSO “Heer Offizier dolch” THIRD REICH Officer’s Dagger
SOLINGEN Made Military Dagger w/SCABBARD, Hanger, Portapee
Here we present a World War II German Army (Heer) Officer’s Dagger (Offizier dolch), made circa the 1935 to 1943 in Solingen, Germany. Traditionally German Army Officers had worn a saber as part of the uniform dress and this tradition was carried on through the Weimar era, (Circa 1919-1933), Reichswehr, National Defense Force, and on into the Third Reich. Hitler introduced the dress dagger for optional wear with the walking out dress and retained the saber for wear on more formal occasions. The dress dagger was designed by Berlin graphic artist Paul Casberg and was officially approved for wear on May 4, 1935, along with specifically styled dagger hangers and a new pattern portapee.
The overall condition is fine. Nicely aged patina on the silver parts. The blade is straight and bright, unsharpened. Solid hilt. The scabbard is very good with one dent about 1 ½” from the tip on one side.
Overall Length is 14-3/4 inches.
Blade Length is 10 inches.
