Product Description
WORLD WAR II German WAFFENWERKE BRUNN “dou/43” Code MAUSER K98 Rifle C&R
GERMAN OCCUPATION Third Reich Military Rifle SLING
Here we present a C&R German Waffenwerke Brunn “dou/43” Code Mauser K98 Rifle manufactured in 1943 in German Occupied Bystrica. Waffenwerke Brunn AG is the name the Germans gave the small arms factory at Bystrica, Czechoslovakia, located in the former Austro-Hungarian territory of Slovakia. Prior to German occupation the factory produced VZ-24 rifles for export and the Czech military.
This rifle was made in the middle of the war. The top of the receiver is marked with “dou/43”, which was the wartime code for Waffenwerke Brunn A.G. in Bystrica, with several Waffenamt markings. There are Eagle/Swastika firing proofs and other Third Reich markings.
The factory was located in the Slovak region and made k98 rifles from 1942 to 1945. One of the more unique aspects of these rifles is that most were captured by the Russians, with very few being found in the hands of U.S. Army soldiers. This was due to the fact that there was little fighting between the U.S. forces and the Germans in Czechoslovakia.
The overall condition is good. Mostly gray patina. The numbers on the receiver, barrel bands, magazine bottom metal, but differ on the magazine floor plate and bolt. The action is excellent, however, the magazine spring and follower are absent. The bore is bright with good rifling. The stock is solid.
