Product Description
WORLD WAR I Era DWM 7.65x21mm GERMAN LUGER C&R Pistol Semi-Automatic .30
Commercial Post-War Handgun for Export
Here we present a C&R Blank Chamber Post-World War I Era DWM German Luger Pistol, made circa 1920 by DWM in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars.
The “Crown over N” proof mark is found throughout this pistol. The Crown over N is a German pre-World War II proof mark used before April 1, 1940. The “N” indicates that the gun has been proofed with “nitro” or smokeless powder. The top of the toggle is marked “DWM”. It is also marked “MADE IN GERMANY” as it was meant for export, probably to the US.
The overall condition is near fine. Original finish. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. The grips are solid with sharp checkering.
