WAR of 1812 Antique KETLAND & Co. FLINTLOCK Pistol
Flintlock Go to War Pistol in .64 Caliber!
Here we present an antique Ketland & Co. Flintlock Pistol, made circa the early 1800s in England. Ketland & Co. operated in Birmingham, England, from the late 1700s and to the early 1800s to become one of the most prominent and active British makers of the day. John and Thomas Ketland were the sons of Thomas Ketland and grandsons of William Ketland, who had been making locks and guns for the colonies since the early 18th Century. The lock plate is marked “KETLAND/& Co” ahead of the hammer. The left rear side of the barrel is stamped with pre-1813 proof marks.
This pistol would have been used by a soldier or officer as their sidearm.
The overall condition is very good. The iron parts have a dark gray patina. The markings are legible. The stock shows use and remains solid. There is a repair above the tail of the lock that is smooth, solid and nicely blended. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic British martial pistol that was made during the reign of King George III!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
