Waffenfabrik Bern SWISS K31 STRAIGHT PULL Bolt Action 7.5mm C&R Rifle SLING
Switzerland Made MILITARY RIFLE Model 1931
Here we present a C&R Swiss Model K31 Straight Pull Bolt Action Rifle, made circa the mid-1940s by Waffenfabrik Bern in Bern, Switzerland. The design was conceived under the direction of Colonel Adolf Furrer and was adopted in 1931, hence the designation. More than 580,000 K31 rifles were made between 1933 and 1958, and many stayed in reserve store until the 1990s.
They have a reputation among shooters for being very precise, reliable, and accurate, with the ability to fire quickly. One of the most unique and differentiating features of the K31 is the straight pull bolt with the “beer keg” bolt handle. Instead of unlocking the bolt by pivoting the bolt by its handle, the shooter simply pulls straight back on the handle. The muzzle is crowned, contributing to accuracy. The front sight is a straight blade and the rear a long-range leaf.
A unique element found with some rifles is a piece of paper under the buttplate with the name and address of the last citizen/soldier to whom the rifle was issued.
The overall condition is fine. Original finish. The action is robust. The bore is in good shape with a nice shimmer. Solid stock and very good overall, containing an average amount of wear. Numbers match. Markings are sharp. Good leather sling. “CDI” import marked. Here is a fantastic Swiss rifle that promises to be as good a shooter as it is reputed to be.
