Product Description

Very Scarce ENGRAVED Antique GILLESPIE Percussion DERRINGER Pistol NEW YORK

CALIFORNIA GOLD RUSH Era RIVERBOAT GAMBLER’s Gun

Here we present an antique Engraved Gillespie “Deringer” Style Percussion Pistol, made circa the late 1840s-1860s in New York City. George Gillespie was a gun maker in the late 1840s into the mid to late-1860s and had his shop on Warren Street in New York. Gillespie and many others copied the Henry Deringer style of pistol. Gillespie marketed his guns in NYC from the 1850’s through a bit after the Civil War. President Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed with one of Henry Deringer’s pocket sized percussion pistols, the night John Wilkes Booth revenged the South at the Ford Theater.

The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Nice grip checkering. The wood is in very good shape with less than average handling wear. Markings are legible. The original finish has matured to a dark brown patina.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 2-3/4 inches.

Caliber: .44 Percussion

Overall condition as seen in photos.
