Product Description
US Military Trainer WINCHESTER Model 1885 Low Wall WINDER Rifle C&R
U.S. Ordnance Flaming Bomb w/ 52 WINCHESTER Barrel
Here we present a C&R Winchester 1885 Low Wall “Winder” Musket, chambered in .22 Long Rifle Rimfire, made circa 1918 in New Haven, Connecticut. This Winder musket has been rebarreled with an early Winchester Model 52 light weight target barrel, chambered in .22 LR. It has the original Winchester factory markings on the barrel and action, with the top tang marked with the U.S./Ordnance Shell and Flame acceptance proof mark. It retains its full-length Winder musket forend and buttstock. It has Winchester/Unertl type scope blocks mounted on the barrel in the original factory drilled and tapped holes. It has an early Lyman globe front sight and comes with a rifleman’s leather sling.
The previous owner gave with it two targets showing this to be an MOA gun. Each target states distance of 50 yards. One target states a 4x scope was used. Best group was with Lapua Master M, though the second target was apparently 15 shots of SK Standard Plus. An excellent group.
The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. The stock is solid.
