Unique Antique OTIS SMITH .32 Cal. Rimfire SPUR TRIGGER Pocket REVOLVER
1 of Less Than 4,000 Manufactured
Here we present an antique Otis Smith Spur Trigger Pocket Revolver, made circa 1875 in either Middleton or Rockfalls, Connecticut. Otis Smith was a gunmaker in both Middleton & Rockfalls, Connecticut in the 1870s and 1880s. He held a number of patents for revolvers and mostly made inexpensive, but good-quality handguns in calibers ranging from .22 to .41 in both rimfire and centerfire. It is estimated that there were less that 4,000 of these little revolvers made. Both of his solid frame and top break models are considered an American arms oddity.
The top of the frame is clearly marked “SMITH’S NEW MODEL”. The rear sight is incorporated into the rimfire firing pin and is usable when the hammer is in a cocked position. The firearm has a five shot cylinder chambered in .32 Rimfire.
The overall condition is nearing fine. Original nickel finish. The action is strong. Dark bore with thin rifling. Both grips are in good shape with expected handling wear. The top of each grip is embossed with “OAS”, the maker’s initials.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 3 inches.
