U.S. REVOLVER CO. .32 C&R Top Break Self Defense Revolver ROARING TWENTIES
Blued CONCEAL & CARRY Revolver
Here we present a C&R U.S. Revolver Company Double Action .32 Centerfire Revolver, made circa 1920 by Iver Johnson in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Iver Johnson was a U.S. firearms, bicycle, and motorcycle manufacturer from 1871 to 1993. The company shared the same name as its founder, Norwegian-born Iver Johnson (1841–1895). Iver Johnson & Martin Bye both cut their teeth with Ethan Allen, then started their own company in 1871.
The revolver was a small, sturdy, well-built self-defense weapon, ideal for potent conceal and carry in the early years of the tumultuous 20th century continuing into the years leading up to the Roaring Twenties. This double action revolver was designed after the very popular Smith & Wesson revolvers of the late 19th Century. With 5 shots and modest size, it would have been handy for concealed carry protection in the wild Roaring Twenties!
The overall condition is good. Original blue is preserved in low trafficked areas. The action functions, but the return spring is broken or missing. Semi-bright bore with strong rifling. Both grips are missing chips with the left side being significant. Markings are legible.
