Flintlock Sidearm from the Late-18th Century!
Here we present an antique Thomas Ketland & Co. Flintlock Pistol, made circa the late-1700s in London. Thomas Ketland was a successful and prolific maker of arms in England from about the 1750s until about 1787. He furnished the British government and civilians arms during this time from both London and Birmingham. Small arms by Thomas Ketland are known to have been used during the American Revolutionary War.
The left lock plate is marked “KETLAND/& Co. The top of the barrel showcases two legible London proofs and the initials “TK” for Thomas Ketland.
The overall condition is good. The action is strong. The bore in good shape. The left side of the stock does have a couple of thin repaired cracks, otherwise it is solid. This is a fantastic piece from the American Colonial Period and the time of the American Revolutionary War!
