(WKC), has been manufacturing military swords and cutlery in Solingen, Germany. Today, as the oldest and largest military sword manufacturer in Germany, this family-owned business is the leading supplier to military schools and services worldwide for ceremonial military swords, including the military academies in the United States.
Generally speaking, swords were not extremely practical for combat by the time the Great War came around; however, they were still prized for dress uniforms and status symbols. They were worn at formal ceremonies, weddings, parties, parades and funerals. The overall length of this example is 38-3/8” with a 33” etched and engraved quillback blade and a nickel guard.
