Product Description

SWEDISH Model 1791 DOGLOCK FLINTLOCK .75 Caliber Infantry MUSKET Antique

Rare Musket from NAPOLEONIC WARS, FINNISH WAR

Here we present an antique Swedish Model of 1791 Doglock Flintlock Infantry Musket, made circa the 1790s. This musket would have seen conflict during the Napoleonic Wars (c.1803-1815) against the French, the Finnish War (1808-1809) against Russia the result of which was the ceding of Finland to the Russians, and the Swedish-Norwegian War of 1814.

This is a distinctive and early form of the flintlock that originated in the 17th Century. There is a safety catch on the back that grabs the cock and holds it in place. Sweden was one of the last users of this system, which was in their arsenals until the early-19th Century. This one features 3 barrel bands and a slightly narrower stock than other countries’ adopted military arms. There is a large bayonet lug under the barrel at the muzzle. An “L” shaped side plate and brass hardware really set this one apart. “945” is stamped on the both the butt plate tang and the left side of the barrel. “PGB” is stamped on the lock below the pan.

The overall condition is fine. The action is strong. The smooth bore is in good shape. Nice woodgrain and smooth and solid stock. A very seldom seen Swedish musket in the US!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 41-1/4 inches.

Caliber: .75

Overall condition as seen in photos.
