Continuation of the .38 M&P “HAND EJECTOR” Series
Here we present a C&R Smith & Wesson .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 First Change Double Action Revolver manufactured circa 1906-08 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The .38 Hand Ejector Model of 1905 was a continuation of the .38 M&P Hand Ejector series and was built between 1905 and 1906. The .38 caliber serial number range was between 62,450 and 73,250 with about 10,800 produced. Over the total production run of this revolver, there were around 937,000 of these revolvers produced between 1905 and 1942. This “First Change” revolver had a total production of 46,749 between the years 1906 and 1908 with a serial number range between 73,251 to 120,000.
In 1899, the United States Army and Navy placed an order with Smith & Wesson for two to three thousand Model 1899 Hand Ejector revolvers chambered for the .38 Long Colt U.S. Service Cartridge. With this order, the Hand Ejector Model became known as the .38 Military and Police model. These revolvers have survived the test of time, as they are still being produced and called the Model 10.
The overall condition is very good. Original finish. Excellent action. Bright, sharply rifled bore. Both grips are seated firmly and have solid checkering. Sharp, legible markings. Numbers match, “102024”.
