Product Description

SCARCE DUTCH Contract VICKERS Model 1906 LUGER Pistol GS 1929 INDONESIA C&R

1 of only 6,000 Assembled in ENGLAND Beginning in 1919

Here we present a C&R Dutch Contract Model 1906 Luger Pistol assembled by the British Arms maker Vickers Ltd. for military export to the Netherlands. Beginning in 1919, approximately 6,000 Luger pistols were assembled out of parts provided by the DWM company in Germany, who were forbidden to manufacture firearms in this configuration due to the restrictions placed up them by the Treaty of Versailles which ended World War I. These pistols were intended to arm the Dutch military in the East Indies, their colony at the time. These pistols saw lots of hard use in the tropical environment of the Indies,

These Dutch East Indies Lugers were all used hard and were arsenal refurbished at various times, as is this example indicated with the “1929” dated barrel which is marked “GS” for Geweermakers School. Many were refinished and overhauled numerous times.  This pistol has the “VICKERS/LTD” marking on the toggle link along with the “RUST” safety marking.

Dutch proof “Crown/W” for Queen Wilhelmina. British proofs from when these were assembled in England. The frame is marked with the five-pointed star of the Indonesian Army who inherited these after the country gained independence from its colonizers.

The overall condition is very good. Dutch armory blue finish. The action is excellent. The bore is in very good condition: clean with sharp rifling. The numbers match throughout with the exception of the magazine (which is tinned). This is a very desirable pistol not only for Dutch Martial firearms collectors but all Luger collectors as this is the only “British Luger” ever made as well as a small contract with much attrition.

This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.

Barrel is 4 inches.

Caliber: 9x19mm Luger (Parabellum)

Overall condition as seen in photos.
