Here we present an antique Brass Frame Merwin & Bray Single Shot Deringer retailed in New York, New York and believed to have been manufactured by the Bacon Mfg. Company of Norwich, Connecticut circa the early to mid-1860s. This little single shot pistol was marketed by the famed New York arms dealers and financiers Merwin & Bray.
The dates of manufacture were 1859-1866, encompassing the years of the American Civil War. This would have been a conceal and carry weapon during the time of extreme turmoil in the United/Confederate States when brother was pitted against brother, never knowing when one would encounter the enemy.
The overall condition is good. Original patina. Strong action. Bright bore. Both grips are solid with an average amount of wear. Numbers match. Legible markings.
