Product Description

SCARCE Antique COLT Model 1883 Hammerless 10 Gauge Double Barrel SHOTGUN

ENGRAVED Shotgun Made in 1895 with Damascus Barrels

Here we present an antique Colt Model 1883 Hammerless Double Barrel Shotgun, manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut in 1895. The Model 1883 was made from 1883 to 1895, with approximately 7,360 manufactured. These double barrel shotguns were often custom made to order and fitted with Damascus barrels from 28 to 32 inches in length.

According to early sources, “The Hammerless Model 1883 ranks among the best grade doubles produced in the entire American arms trade. The limited number completed, and the great pains devoted to handling specific orders from often fussy shooters means that a considerable degree of quality and variety is evident in the Model 1883 series.” This shotgun was considered one of the finest guns money could buy in its day, and this one features a checkered stock and light engraving.

The barrel address is “COLT’S PT F A MFG CO HARTFORD CT USA”. The underside of the frame is marked “PATENTED/AUG.22 SEPT.19 1882”.

The overall condition is very good. Strong Damascus pattern remains on the barrels. The numbers match. The actions are excellent. The bores are very bright and smooth. The stock shows use and remains in good shape overall.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrels are 32 inches.

Caliber: 10 Gauge

Chambers: 2-7/8 inches w/extractors

LOP: 13-7/8 inches
