Product Description
REMINGTON-UMC M4-S Rolling Block .22 RF “MILITARY MODEL” Boy’s Rifle C&R
Fitted with a PERIOD LEATHER SLING
Here we present a C&R Remington-UMC Rolling Block Model No. 4-S “Military Model” Rifle in .22 Rimfire made circa 1911 to 1925 in Ilion, New York with a production run between 1890 and 1933. The details of this rifle are a little confusing, but basically, Hartley and Graham of Schuler, Hartley, and Graham fame (the largest firearms dealer in the United States in 1860) along with Winchester took over Remington in the 1880s. Hartley and Graham owned the Union Metallic Cartridge Company. The two, Remington and UMC, were joined in 1910/1911 to form Remington-UMC. Available calibers for this gun were .22 Rimfire, .25 Stevens, or .32 caliber and came with either a 22-1/2” or 24” barrel.
This rifle is the classic “boy’s” rifle. It was also Remington’s smallest and lightest Rolling Block. This rifle was the plinker and the game-getter for many a youth. Being a single shot, it naturally instills the “make your one shot count” mentality from a young age. This example features a 24-3/4 inch round barrel. It is still a great rifle for a youngster to learn on today!
The overall condition is good. Replacement action and block. The bore is bright with good rifling. Average handling wear on the stock and forend. Original blue finish. Traces of case coloring on the frame. The forend is missing small pieces which have splintered off near the muzzle. The Front sight post has been painted white. Markings legible. The leather sling is intact and remains intact.
Here is one for your children or grandchildren!
