REMINGTON Model 95 DOUBLE DERRINGER .41 RF Type II Over/Under C&R PISTOL
.41 Caliber Rimfire HIDEOUT/SELF DEFENSE Pistol
Here we present a C&R Remington Model 95 Double Derringer Type II with a production run from 1888 to 1911. The Double Derringer was made by Remington from 1865-1935, which is a testament to the design as well as Americans’ desire to carry a concealed weapon. The Derringer was sturdily built and simple in operation. A lever on the right side of the frame swings so that the barrels may open upward on a hinge for loading and unloading. There is a single firing pin that moves from one barrel to another with each cock.
Type II (also known as the Model 3): circa 1888-1911, about 80,000 produced, barrel marking changed to a single line on top of barrel and reads REMINGTON ARMS CO., ILION, N.Y.
The Remington Derringer has been made famous, especially in the old Western films, but use of these guns really was widespread. Lawmen and gangsters alike would carry them as backups or something to stick in a pocket. Civilians loved them, as well as those in the military. In fact, the NRA Museum has a specimen in their collection which was carried as a backup by a pilot during the Korean War in the 1950s.
The overall condition is fine. Original finish. Strong action. Both bores have darkened with thin rifling remaining. Sharp markings. The grips are seated firmly with nice checkering and light handling evidence.
