RARE FRENCH Charleville Model 1763 FLINTLOCK Pistol REVOLUTIONARY WAR Era
.69 Caliber Single Shot Cavalry Sidearm
Here we present an antique Revolutionary War Era French Military Model 1763 flintlock pistol, made in St. Etienne in 1763. Defeated in the Seven Years War by Britain (1756-1763) (in the United States referred to as the French and Indian War) and France’s defeat at Quebec in 1759 resulted in French Colonial pistols not arriving in North America before the French had lost all their holdings there. The Model 1763 pistols were used by both the French Army and Navy and by American rebel forces later during the American Revolution making them historically significant pistol for both European and American martial arms collectors. Large quantities of French firearms were imported for use by the American revolutionaries in their struggle against the British crown.
The face of the lock is marked, though faintly with the Charleville arsenal markings. “M 1763” is marked on the top of the barrel and tang.
The overall condition is very good. Even patina throughout. The action is strong. The bore is smooth and in great shape for age. The stock shows use and yet remains solid.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 9-1/8 inches.
Caliber: .69 Flintlock
Overall condition as seen in photos.
