Rare Antique WASHINGTON ARMS Single Shot Bar Hammer .32 PERCUSSION Pistol
Made in NEW YORK CITY circa the Mid-1850s
Here we present an antique Washington Arms Co. Bar Hammer Pistol, made by the famed New York gunsmith William Walker Marston. The Washington Arms Co. was one of Marston’s trade names. These were made just prior to the American Civil War in 1850s New York. Records show that Marston began operating at 197 Allen Street in New York City somewhere around 1844 to 1845. This pistol is very similar to the Allen & Thurber bar hammer pistol made around the same time.
The history that these pistols enjoyed over the years is astounding: the Seminole Wars, Gold Rush, Mexican War and American Civil War. These guns are true relics of American history.
Engraved frame. Good bore for its age. The action does not function. Legible markings. Solid grips. Dark matted patina.
