RARE Antique J. M. MARLIN 1st Model .22 Caliber Rimfire Wild West DERINGER
Marlin’s FIRST HANDGUN and 1 of only 4000 Manufactured!
Here we present an exceedingly rare John M. Marlin 1st Model Deringer, manufactured circa 1865 in New Haven, Connecticut. It was produced with a brass frame and rosewood grips. Produced from 1863 to 1867, the total production was only 4,000 total making it a scare little single shot pistol. Marlin made three of these deringer types. These included the “1st Model”, made between 1863 and 1867, the “OK Model” made between 1863 and 1870, and the “Never Miss” Model made between 1870 and 1881.
This little deringer was the first handgun produced by Marlin. The barrel is 2-1/16 inches long and pivots to side for loading. There is a plunger under the frame that is depressed to free barrel. It is chambered for .22 rimfire cartridges with no extraction feature.
The overall condition is good. Strong action. Legible markings. The bore is in good shape for its age. Both grips are in good shape with low handling.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
