RARE Antique 4- BARREL Tap Action FLINTLOCK Pistol
ENGRAVED Turn of the Century Self Defense Pistol!
Here we present an antique Four Barrel Tap Action Flintlock Pistol, made circa the late 1700s to early 1800s in turn of the century Europe. While tap action pistols with two barrels are more common, those with three or more certainly are quite rare. The barrels are marked with dots indicating 1-4 respectively starting with the left side, and the breech is correspondingly marked. There is some light border, drapery, and floral engraving. The “tap” is controlled by the revolving switch on the left side of the gun that opens and closes the vents to the lower two barrels.
The style of the pistol would appear British but for lack of required proof marks. This pistol may have been made by a British expat or perhaps simply built similarly to another in a different country. Wherever the origin, this is a very neat piece of hardware that would have made someone one of the best armed individuals in his city.
The overall condition is very good. The iron parts have a gray patina with clear markings. The walnut grip is in good shape. The bores are smooth and in very good condition. The actions remain strong. Here is a rare opportunity to own a multi-shot flintlock pistol!
