Post-CIVIL WAR Era FACTORY ENGRAVED Antique COLT 2nd Model .41 RF Deringer
SCROLL ENGRAVING from the FACTORY
Here we present an antique Colt Second Model Deringer pistol made circa 1880 in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1870 Colt purchased National Arms Company and began producing a Deringer pistol based on its design. This became Colt’s First Model Deringer, and it was Colt’s first single shot pistol. It was followed in quick succession by a very similar pistol, called Colt’s Second Model Deringer.
Both of these pistols were chambered for .41 rimfire and featured a barrel that rotated counter-clockwise for loading and unloading. This little pistol was made from 1870-1890, with a total production of only 9000. This is one of the few Colt pistols to come standard from the factory with scroll engraving. Chambered in .41 rimfire, this little single-shot packed a sizeable projectile. The Colt address is on top of the barrel.
The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Both grips are seated firmly and remain in very good shape. Numbers match. Markings are legible. This example has been refinished in nickel.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
