NICE Antique SMITH & WESSON .32 Single Action TOP BREAK Revolver WILD WEST
19th Century Conceal and Carry in .32 Caliber S&W
Here we present an antique Smith & Wesson .32 Single Action Spur Trigger Top Break Revolver, made circa 1878-92 in Springfield, Massachusetts. This model is the first .32 S&W centerfire caliber top-break revolver that automatically ejected spent cartridges upon opening. These were similar in appearance to Model 1-1/2 2nd Issue revolvers. This model has a 5-shot fluted cylinder and bird’s-head grip of wood or checkered hard rubber. They were offered with barrel lengths of 3, 3.5″, 6″, 8″ and 10″. This model pivots downward on opening. Features a rebounding hammer that made the weapon much safer to fully load. Approximately 97,599 manufactured between 1878 and 1892.
The overall condition is fine. This example has been beautifully factory refinished in nickel. Excellent action. Fine grips. Sharp markings. Numbers match. A factory rework star is stamped on the rear of the cylinder. A S&W factory “R-N” refinish mark and November 1974 (“11 74”) return date are on the grip frame.
