NEW YORK Antique JOHN HATCH Percussion 36 Caliber Single Shot TARGET Pistol
Made Mid-19th Century in Syracuse, NY
Here we present an antique John Hatch Percussion Target Pistol, manufactured circa the mid-19th century in either Syracuse or Caenovia, NY. John Hatch was active in Syracuse sometime before 1842 before moving to Cazenovia and working there into the early 1880s. This type of pistol was popular during the mid-1800s, in the early years of the United States, as well as Europe. Target pistols in this era would be known as a step above the average everyday pistol, with extra quality being put into the making of the firearm. They normally had a longer barrel, such as this one.
This one features an octagonal barrel in .36 caliber. German silver décor. There is a rear peep sight at the top of the barrel tang.
The overall condition is very good. The action functions well. The bore is in good shape. A bright finish remains on the stock and shows minimal handling wear. “J. HATCH” can be read on both the lightly floral engraved lock and barrel top. Here is a wonderful piece of New York history to collect and display!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
