NEW ENGLAND Antique Full Stock FLINTLOCK American LONG RIFLE .575 Caliber
Early 19th Century HUNTING/HOMESTEAD Rifle
Here we present an antique New England Full Stock Flintlock Long Rifle, made circa the turn of the 19th Century. This rifle features a nearly 44-inch long octagonal barrel that measures approximately .575 from land to land. The lock is a Ketland. The silver thumb plate and wire inlays are typical of early US flintlock rifles and fowlers made in New England states of the period. From there, these critical tools went everywhere. This one also has a patchbox set into the right side of the butt stock. Many of these were eventually updated to percussion, but this one remains in flintlock!
The overall condition is good+. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age with good rifling. Solid stock with some minor repairs especially to the top side of the forestock. The brass butt plate is cracked at the corner. Clearly well-used and in great shape for the age. Still in flintlock!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 43-3/4 inches.
Caliber: .575 Flintlock
Overall condition as seen in photos.
