Vintage Sparring Weapon
Here we present an Antique German A.&A. Schnitzler Fencing Style Sword made circa the mid-20th Century in Solingen, Germany. August and Albert Schnitzler had a business that was active between 1864 and 1873, and possibly beyond. They had offices in Birmingham, England from 1864-1873, and sold cavalry sabers to northern dealers during the latter part of the American Civil War between 1864-1865.
The overall condition is good. The blade has an even gray patina. Solid hilt. The pommel cap is missing. “A&A S” marked left ricasso.
The overall length is 41-1/4 inches.
The blade length is 34 inches.
