Mid-1800s Antique CAVALRY Style Saber with IRON GUARD & RIBBED GRIP
Sword Possibly Imported from Europe
Here we present an antique Civil War Era Non-Regulation American Military Cavalry Style Sword, made circa the late 1850s to the early 1860s. Some of these types of swords were produced by various German makers and exported here for sale by military goods dealers selling to officers, who were obliged to acquire their own arms, uniforms, and equipment. This has an brass hilt and r, ribbed wood grip, making it the weapon preferred by soldiers for service in the field.
The overall condition is good. Straight blade, light pitting, and average dings. Solid hilt. The grip is well handled, but solid.
Overall length: 34-1/2 inches.
Blade length: 29 inches.
