MATCHING Cased Antique BAYONET Equipped Pistols

Engraved European Hideout Pistols with Spring Bayonets

Here we present an antique Cased Set of European Percussion Pistols, Equipped with Spring-Loaded Bayonets, made circa 1850 in Liege, Belgium. These pistols would have been carried concealed in the mid-19th Century for self-defense. Percussion pistols like these were quite often purchased and carried in pairs, so that the user had at least two shots to get them out of danger. These pistols have the added advantage of the spring-loaded bayonets that fold neatly under the octagonal barrel. When each of the pistols had expended its shot, a simply pull on the trigger guard with the trigger finger would allow the bayonet to spring rapidly in place. To release, push on the large flat screw. Each of the pistols is nicely engraved and bear Liege proof marks. Classy, unique and devious!

The overall condition of these pistols is very good. The metal surfaces bear an even, mild gray patina. The engraving and markings are clear and legible. The wooden grips show that these guns were carried and used. The bores are smooth and dark. The actions are excellent. The spring bayonets are strong, locking easily into place. The release screw from the bottom example is a bit stripped, but manually releasing the bayonet is still possible. Pistols with bayonets are quite scarce, and hardly ever found as a pair!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 3-1/4 inches.

Caliber: .42 Percussion

Overall condition as seen in photos.
