MADRID, SPAIN Antique FLINTLOCK Pistol ENGRAVED
1783 Dated SALVADOR ZINARRO Signed Pistol
Here we present an antique Engraved Spanish Flintlock Pistol by Salvador Zinarro, made circa 1783 in Spain. Salvador Zinarro was a gunmaker to Charles III of Spain, who ruled over Spain between the years of 1759 and 1788. This pistol was a status symbol as well as a weapon. It is of military size and was quite like to have been carried by an officer. This pistol would have been in use during the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815) and the Peninsular War (1807-1814), not to mention the numerous conflicts taking place in both North and South America in Spain’s colonies.
The lock and barrel are both maker marked “SALVADOR ZINARRO”, both are dated “1783”, and both are marked “EN MADRID”.
The overall condition is very good. The bore is smooth and in fantastic condition. The action maintains good spring tension and mobility, however, the sear surface is just a little too worn to hold the hammer in full-cock position.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 10-3/4 inches.
Overall condition as seen in photos.
