M.C. LILLEY Antique CIVIL WAR Era U.S. M1860 Staff & Field OFFICER’S Sword
Columbus, OHIO Manufactured with SCABBARD
Here we present an antique U.S. Model of 1860 Staff & Field Officer’s Sword, made by M.C. Lilley & Co. of Columbus, Ohio. The model 1860 was produced from the period of the American Civil War through the time of the Spanish-American War. The overall length is 36-5/8 inches and the nicely etched blade measures 30 inches along with a gilt brass hilt, wire wrapped rayskin grip, and a nickel scabbard.
There are photographs of a U.S. soldier taken during the Spanish American War with one of these in hand. The blade is very nicely etched with an array of U.S. themed symbology and scrollwork. The handle is the original rayskin, bound in braided wire.
The overall condition is very good. Original finish. The blade is acid etched with many patriotic symbols. The grip and twisted wire are tight, but the hand guard has a little movement. The scabbard is in good shape with a few dents and dings.
Blade length: 30-1/2 inches.
Overall length: 37-1/2 inches.
