LONDON PROOFED Antique ETCHED PANEL COLT “New Line” .22 Caliber RF Revolver
WILD WEST Potent Conceal & Carry Hideout Gun
Here we present an antique London Proofed Colt New Line .22 Revolver, made in 1875 in Hartford, Connecticut. The “New Line” was a single action pocket revolver introduced by the Colt’s Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in 1873 and continued through 1884, with the .22 caliber being manufactured between 1873 and 1877 with a total of roughly 55,343 being manufactured.
Two years after the Colt House Revolver, a year after the Colt Open Top, and almost simultaneously alongside the Colt Peacemaker, the Colt New Line was one of the first metallic cartridge, rear-loading revolvers manufactured by Colt. It was designed to be a handy pocket-carry revolver, chambered in .22 rimfire, which was very popular for self-defense in these days.
The revolver features 7 shots of .22 rimfire. Of all the Colt “New Line” revolvers made, the .22 caliber was the only one featuring a 7 shot cylinder. All other calibers utilized a 5-shot cylinder. Patent dates are on the bottom of the barrel.
The overall condition is fine. Bright, original finish. Excellent action. Good bore. Markings are clear. The cylinder flutes are London proofed. Numbers match “12170”. Here is a very handsome and collectible specimen of the Colt New Line .22!
