LONDON, ENGLAND c1866 COLT Model 1862 POLICE .36 Revolver Antique
Made in Hartford, CT for the British Market
Here we present an antique London Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver, made in 1866 in Hartford, Connecticut. Samuel Colt found great success in the late-1840s and early-1850s, so much so that he decided to expand his business to Europe. He briefly established a manufactory in London, though this was short-lived, instead opting to keep manufacturing in Hartford, making guns for export. The company did maintain an office and agent in London, however. This revolver was made for the British market from the factory as it was marked “L” (for London) by the serial numbers. Once in London, it was proofed by British law.
The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish with nice luster. The action is excellent with great indexing and cylinder lockup but does not hold half-cock. The bore is reflective with sharp rifling. Numbers are matching. The grip is solid.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 4-1/2 inches.
