LEFT-HANDED Antique PERCUSSION .42 Cal. Long Barreled TARGET Style Pistol
Mid-19th Century Carry Gun
Here we present an antique Percussion Left Handed Pistol, made circa the 1850s. This type of pistol was very popular from the 18th and well into the 19th Centuries in the United States, as well as overseas. They were of course made primarily for self-defense, especially in cities or traveling around the countryside.
This large self-defense pistol would have been most at home tucked into one’s belt or in the coat pocket of anyone in a busy city like New York or Philadelphia during the tumultuous times of the mid-1800s. As mentioned, this was of course made primarily for self-defense, and very well would tell stories if it could. Much happened in the United States and abroad during this period. Its gaping .42 caliber bore would have been quite the shock for the ne’er do wells roaming the big city streets.
The overall condition is good. The action fully functions. Good bore for its age. Solid stock/grip. The front ramrod lug has been repaired. The finish has matured to a dark brown patina.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 12 inches.
Caliber: .42 percussion
Overall condition as seen in photos.
