Product Description

Large British EAST INDIA CO Flintlock BLUNDERBUSS

Dated 1816 with EIC Markings!

Here we present an antique British East India Company Blunderbuss, made circa 1816. This is truly massive and would likely been used on a ship or defending an outpost. It is so large and heavy that it is unlikely that such a shoulder-fired cannon would have been toted around, unless in a wagon. The blunderbuss was the original riot shotgun, devastating at close range which made it just the ticket when repelling boarders or boarding a ship. The same made it ideal for defending battlements on land as well.

This one features an “EIC” marked lock and is dated “1816”. The bell on this barrel is nearly 2 inches in diameter. Many blunderbusses are fairly petite and handy but this one is built like a tank and is full length with rifle-type sights.

The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is in good shape. There is a very old repair around the two barrel wedges. The foremost ramrod tube has come off and can be reattached. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is strong. This is a great opportunity to own a rare British Blunderbuss used by the East India Company!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 28-5/8 inches.

Caliber: 1.84 at the mouth of the bell—approximately .95 inside diameter at narrowest portion of barrel

Overall condition as seen in photos.
