Small Pocket Single Shot TARGET Pistol
Here we present a C&R J. Stevens Arms & Tool Company “Tip-up” Single Shot .22 Caliber Rimfire Target Pistol, made circa the Turn of the Century. Stevens, well known for its Tip-Up Pistols, Boy’s Rifles, and Sporting Rifles, got its start in Chicopee Falls at the closing years of the Civil War in 1864. Stevens Arms was founded by Joshua Stevens with help from backers W.B. Fay and James Taylor in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, in 1864 as J. Stevens & Co. Their earliest product was a tip-up action single shot pistol.
Overall condition is nearing fine. Original nickel finish. The action is strong. Dark bore. Both grips are in good shape with average handling wear. Markings are legible. This would have been a great target pistol, or just taking it out for a little plinking at some old tin cans!
